Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rod pod and why do I need one?

A rod pod is a freestanding platform that holds your carp rods at the correct angle without bank sticks. Essential on hard ground, concrete swims, wooden platforms or anywhere you cannot push sticks into the ground. Most pods hold 3-4 rods and are fully adjustable for height and angle.

Rod pod or bank sticks — which is better for carp fishing?

Bank sticks are lighter, cheaper and give more flexibility on soft banks. Rod pods are better on hard surfaces and keep your setup portable. Many anglers carry both — bank sticks as default and a pod for difficult swims. Aluminium pods fold compactly and weigh under 2 kg.

What height should I set my rod pod?

Set the back rest slightly higher than the front for a gentle upward angle. This keeps your line tight to the lead and improves bite detection. On windy days, lower the pod and sink your line to avoid drift. The ideal angle is 10-20 degrees above horizontal.

Can I use bite alarms with a rod pod?

Yes. All standard rod pods accept screw-thread bite alarms on both front and rear buzzer bars. Our rod pods use standard 3/8 BSF threads compatible with all major bite alarm brands. Pair with swingers or hangers on the rear for full bite indication.
